Coconuts anyone?

WE LOVE... Young Tai Coconuts. We are learning that they are so important for our health.
In the book, RAW POWER, on page 34, Stephen Arlin states that "coconut water is the closest substance to human blood plasma found in the plant world. Also, green chlorophyll is the closest substance to human hemoglobin in the plant world. Coconut water combined with green juice is a powerhouse way to revitalize the blood and build the body." We believe it. It's like getting
an easy blood transfusion...so we eat one everyday. This is Jacob and his friend cutting open some coconuts.

Jacob can actually whack it just in the right place.
This is basically his job - opening coconuts. He has opened dozen and dozen of them.
He can probably get a job at an Asian restaurant now!

After he whacks it - the top lid just pops up and off.

He is actually very happy with himself here.

Now the coconut water is ready to drink - or put in a "green drink". We scrape out
the coconut meat and put it in our "green drink" too. Mmmmm good.
Jacob makes it look sooooo easy.

Judy, you said:

Jen - I am getting mine from a local produce company - and they are even charging me more now.

YEAH, SOME PLACES ARE REALLY EXPENSIVE! ONE PLACE I CALLED WANTED $23 FOR A CASE.

I'll check out the local Asian markets close by - thanks so much for the idea.

THE ONE OFF OF BELL AND I-17(BY THE GOODEGG RESTAURANT) IS CALLED PHILIPPINE ASIAN SEAFOOD MARKET. IF YOU WANT A CASE, CALL TO PLACE AN ORDER WITH THEM. 602-896-0803 IF YOU CALL ON SUNDAY, OR MONDAY MORNING, THEY WILL HAVE THE ORDER READY BY TUES. AFTER 4PM. THEY OPEN AT 9AM

THERE'S ANOTHER ASIAN MARKET--I DON'T KNOW THE NAME--OFF OF UNION HILLS AND 43RD AVE. i HAVEN'T ORDERED BY THE CASE OR TRIED TOO BECAUSE THEY ARE $1.19 PER COCONUT. THIS PLACE IS BIG, HAS GOOD BANANAS AND MANGOS LAST TIME I CHECKED.

Do you store your coconuts in the refrigerator?

YES, 3 OR FOUR AT A TIME. AS SOON AS WE GET THEM HOME 4 GO IN, THEN WHEN MY DAD AND I USE UP TWO(IN A DAY), WE PUT TWO MORE IN THE REFRIGERATOR. SO IF WE GET THE CASE TUES EVENING, WE'LL HAVE THE LAST COUPLE COCONUTS IN THE REFRIGERATOR BY SATURDAY. KNOW WHAT I MEAN?

Mine want to mold if I don't open them and freeze them all in little baggies when I bring them home. They don't hold up in this heat and we don't have our air conditioner on yet.

WITHOUT AIR CONDITIONING, YOU MAY HAVE TO DO THAT. SO FAR, OURS HAVE NOT GOTTEN MOLDY.

LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE MORE QUESTIONS. ;-)

JEN
